Declaration of Independence of the Ancestral Nation of Turtle Island

We, the Original and Sovereign Peoples of Turtle Island, do hereby proclaim our full and irrevocable independence from all foreign systems, colonial powers, and illegitimate claims over our people, lands, and resources.

For too long, we have suffered under systems that enslaved, displaced, renamed, reclassified, and attempted to erase our existence. Despite this, we have survived. We have kept the sacred fires burning, the stories alive, and our ancestral covenant intact.

We declare that our sovereignty is not granted by any government, but arises from the Creator, the land itself, and the blood of our ancestors. Our right to govern ourselves, to protect our communities, to educate our children, to heal our people, and to determine our own destiny is sacred and non-negotiable.

We are a distinct and sovereign nation with the right to:

·       Govern ourselves under ancestral, natural, and spiritual law;

·       Reclaim, protect, and steward our lands and waters;

·       Practice and revitalize our cultures, languages, and ceremonies without interference;

·       Maintain peace, justice, and security within our territories;

·       Enter into relations with other Indigenous nations and global entities as equals;

·       Restore our economy, education, and health systems in alignment with Indigenous values;

·       Investigate and prosecute all crimes against our people, especially the missing, murdered, trafficked, and displaced;

·       Build a future that reflects the will of our people and the wisdom of our elders.

Let it be known to all nations of the world, to international bodies, and to those who occupy our ancestral lands without consent: the Ancestral Nation of Turtle Island stands free, whole, and sovereign.

We call upon our people—those near and far, those misclassified or displaced—to rise and stand with us. Reclaim your names. Reclaim your lands. Reclaim your Nation.

Let the fires be lit in every territory. Let our ancestors be honored in every declaration. Let our children walk in dignity on the earth we once again call our own.

So declared by the united Clans, Elders, and Citizens of the Ancestral Nation of Turtle Island, in sacred memory of all who came before, and in commitment to all who are yet to come.

This is our declaration. This is our right. This is our return.
